How do we design clinical trials that truly improve the lives of children and families? In this session, Lauren Kelly will introduce core concepts in clinical trial design, focusing on approaches that are evidence-informed and consensus-based.
She will also share insights from her work leading IMPaCT, a Canadian training platform dedicated to building capacity in maternal and pediatric clinical trials.
Speaker
Lauren Kelly, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the University of Manitoba and the Clinical Trials Director for the Children’s Hospital Research Institute of Manitoba. A Certified Clinical Research Professional, she holds a doctorate in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Western Ontario and completed postdoctoral fellowships at Mount Sinai Hospital and the Hospital for Sick Children.
Kelly leads the Clinical Pharmacology Lab, a research program evaluating drug safety and effectiveness in children, during lactation, and in pregnancy. She is also the Scientific Director of the Canadian Childhood Cannabinoid Clinical Trials (C4T) initiative, serving as Principal Investigator on three national trials. She directs IMPaCT, a training platform designed to increase capacity for maternal and pediatric clinical trials across Canada.
