Dr Sarah Lippé Gave a Great Talk on EEG Markers of Neurodevelopmental Disorders to Students and Researcher Members at the TACC Research Forum on November 11th
November 11th, 2020
TACC held its second Forum of the 2020-2021 session, EEG Markers of Neurodevelopmental Disorders: What Can we Learn from Intellectual Disability Syndromes, by Dr. Sarah Lippé. Over 40 TACC members, students and QART trainees attended this virtual event.
Dr. Lippé’s Forum examined EEG markers of various neurodevelopmental disorders, namely Fragile X and SYNGAP1-related intellectual disabilities, and how different cognitive tasks affect respective EEG and ERP activities. She then discussed how a link between these findings and current ASD research can be explored, detailing the differences between top-down and bottom-up approaches. Also, TACC wishes to thank trainee Domenico Tullo, PhD (cohort 3) for his help moderating this Forum.
Highlights:
- Attendees were presented with new, unseen data coming from Dr. Lippé’s laboratory
- A question period followed Dr. Lippé’s presentation, which provided students with the opportunity to develop their own understanding of EEG markers
- In attendance were other TACC researchers, who asked their own questions at the end of Dr. Lippé’s presentation, adding a new dimension to the discussion.
