The Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule - Second Edition (ADOS-2) is a widely used standardized assessment tool for diagnostic assessments of autism.

The online workshop is for professionals who would like to gain additional skills in diagnosing autism using the ADOS-2 across ages, developmental levels and language skills.

It covers modules 1, 2, 3 and 4 as well as the Toddler module, and includes discussion about:

the use of the ADOS-2 in making a clinical diagnosis
administration, scoring, and use of ADOS-2 algorithms
issues related to differential diagnosis, diagnosis in context, complex clinical situations, and report writing
current research on ADOS-2

Participation

This online workshop is offered over 6 half-days, and is equivalent to the in-person ADOS-2 Introductory Workshop offered over 3 full days
Participants must attend all sessions

Accreditation ensures participants that workshops meet McGill University's high educational standards.

Workshop materials

Participants must have access to an ADOS-2 Manual, as well as protocols for Modules 1, 2, 3, 4 and the Toddler Module
Materials can be in English, French or any of the official ADOS-2 translations

Workshop fees

Regular fee: $1,250 CAD + taxes

Reduced fee: $1,150 CAD + taxes

The reduced fee applies to students; clinicians in the public healthcare system or the public school system in Canada; all participants from low-income or middle-income countries

Trainer

Mandy Steiman, PhD

Dr. Mandy Steiman is a clinical psychologist specializing in the assessment of autism and associated diagnoses. She holds at position at the Douglas Mental Health University Institute, which is affiliated with McGill University.

She trains professionals in diagnostic assessment and is a certified trainer for ADOS-2 and ADI-R. Her goal is to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care with an empathic, collaborative approach.

Facilitator

Noémie Hébert-Lalonde, PhD

Dr. Noémie Hébert-Lalonde is a clinical neuropsychologist specializing in supporting children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental conditions. Certified in autism assessment, she has specialized training in the ADOS-2 and ADI-R. She is actively involved in TACC and leads the Quebec 1,000 (Q1K) Families initiative. As a clinician-researcher at the MUHC, she aims to advance scientific knowledge in clinical contexts.

Mandy [Steiman] is an excellent resource. Even with delivering the training remotely, via Zoom, she was able to establish a good connection with all participants. The questions were really useful. Having participants from a variety of disciplines and levels of training was also really useful (e.g., hearing perspective from pediatricians, psychologists, clinic vs. other settings was great).
